Guinness Premiership
London Irish v Saracens, Friday 8pm
Saracens are at last finding the consistency that their loyal supporters crave. They thrashed an understrength Bristol side last weekend, and make only one change. Meanwhile London Irish are coming off the back of a tough match against the ultra-physical Wasps and could well be ambushed on their own patch. Back Saracens to win @5/4 (Bet365)
Bristol v Northampton, Sunday 3pm
According to head coach Richard Hill, Bristol have the best run-in to the season of any side, with all four matches at home. Northampton have the feel of a side already building for next season, while Hill’s criticised squad rotation policy has paid dividends, as he has an almost full playing staff to pick from. Back Bristol to win @8/13 (Betfred).
Super 14
Reds v Chiefs, Saturday 9.40am
Let’s be blunt about this and accept the Reds are dreadful, and despite being at home should come in for a bit of a shellacking. I know the Chiefs have only won once but they are a New Zealand side and have been missing their All Blacks. Byron Kelleher and Sivivatu return to action now and give their forwards some real help and that should be more than enough to dominate a weak Reds.
Home advantage is important but I am going Chiefs at 5/11 and possibly on the points spread as well if I can buy their supremacy at 8 or lower.
