A strong weekend from Fletch in picking the winner in the golf, and good trading in the rugby and NFL
During the Rugby World Cup I endured a horrendous quarter-final weekend.
I wrote the next week that we had had a shocker – offered a full mea culpa and reduced stakes and went back to work – hard.
The next three weeks were disciplined and profitable – the account that had had a wonderful run since mid-summer was recovering from the roadbump.
So allow me to celebrate this past weekend.
This is not gloating – the gambling gods would punish that mercilessly but a quiet, satisfying glass of joy for the benefit that some hard work and deep reserach won.
Volvo Masters Golf
Sergio Garcia and Justin Rose were the picks at 9.5 and 14.5 respectively. At the end of day 3 Rose as trading at 1.3 and he eventually won. SUPERB.
EDF Energy Cup
I reckoned we could wait to trade Leicester Tigers in running against Cardiff Blues and at 9-6 at halftime their price had doubled. They then romped home. SUPERB.
GB v NZ rugby league
I did not get a bet on this week as I wanted a larger price on GB and in my advice I did highlight the thought that the second game often throws up a hammering – 44-0 was certainly one of them.
However two weeks ago we backed GB for the series win at 4/9. SUPERB.
NFL, New England Patriots @ Indy Colts
I backed Indy at 7/4 with express advice to trade in a match between the two best teams. Personally I had it as an evens match. Indy lost, in the end, but not before spending a fair chunk of the match ODDS-ON and as low as 1.15 on betfair. This match highlights the importance of trading NFL matches. SUPERB.
The second NFL match was my loss for the weekend as San Diego slumped to Minnesota.
However, it was overall a stunning weekend.
