The Patriots continue their winning ways and so do we with a nice result in the NFL
A 20-10 victory for the Patriots was good enough for us in the NFL at the weekend
Sunday 6pm, Sky Sports, Buffalo Bills (5-3) @ New England Patriots (5-3)
Looking at the current form, the Bills are riding a two match losing streak, while the Patriots lost their last match also. If we look at the history between the two teams though, we see that the Patriots have won an incredible 14 of the last 15 matches.
The key here is the defense of the New England Patriots. On average they have only given up 83 yards on the ground in the last 5 matches. That is superb and a reason why they are winning the tight games.
Matt Cassel is proving competent at QB and they have some rookioes working well and recovering the form and disaster of losing Tom Brady in the first week.
For the Bills, Marshawn Lynch had flu last week and ran awfully but he needs a big week this time if they stand a chance of winning.
The stats demand we back the Patriots @ 20/37 and trust their defense at home to secure the win.
9.15pm, Indianapolis Colts (4-4) @ Pittsburgh Steelers (6-2)
The form book for this match reads;
Colts: L-L-W
Steelers: W-L-W
Much like the Patriots have dominated the Bills in recent years, the Steelers have won 14 of the last 16 games between the pair.
Can Peyton Manning get the misfiring Colts moving or will this be a home field exhibition by Willie Parker, running for another 100+ yard game allied with Big Ben Roethlisberger dominating through the air to his receivers like Heinz Ward?
A good contest here is the Steelers sacking outfit in defense – 32 thus far – against a now fully fit Colts offensive line that is starting to give Manning the time and space he needs to find his targets.
Everything suggests a home win on the Steelers but I want to trade this match as both are around evens. It is the Golden Rule. If the bookies cannot separate them – why should we. Lay the team scoring first and hope for a battle royal. If you must be straight up then home with Steelers in the call.
