Stuart Eaton looks at the card for Bath and Kempton for Wednesday 9 April 2008
Stuart earns you all a few bob by correctly predicting predicting Sugar Mint and Ada River to romp home in Wednesday’s races.
Bath
3.10 – A good few runners take to this maiden field, but on the ratings it looks like it will come down to two main protagonists.
Colorado Blue had his debut run at the back end of last season and this is now a belated return from that outing. He made hard work of it early on during that run but finished with quite a flourish until running out of room late on. He is entitled to come on from that outing, and the winter break, and should go close.
My tip goes to Sugar Mint who has already competed in the rarefied atmosphere of both a Group 1 race and a Group 2 race and is officially rated far beyond this field.
Kempton
6.20 – This looks to be a good opportunity for the in form Prince Valentine to get his nose in front after two decent races, following his return from a winter break. On return he was tried without his usual cheekpieces and travelled nicely enough but unfortunately found one too strong.
Last time out, the cheekpieces were back on and he ran right up to form without being able to take advantage of a pull in the weights. He does however look ready to win at this grade.
Of the rest Only If I Laugh makes most appeal.
6.50 – Another largish field and three runners stand out.
Ada River is quite nicely bred and was running on pleasingly on debut after being slow into her stride. She is sure to gain plenty from the experience and should run a good race.
Spiritofthestorm has been tried exclusively over this course and distance in her short racing career and could well run into a place.
I like the look of Dubai Power who has raced at a level above this and is taken to confirm her class over the rest of this field.
