A phenomenal day of bets as Silent Wonder and Hometown both win
Sometimes the favourites do actually win and Wednesday’s racing at Southwell was a fine example.
Stuart Eaton asked us to back both Silent Wonder and Hometown, bets that proved very profitable as they both stormed home to victory

12.10 – Not too much in the way of strength in depth here and this one looks like it will come down to a shortlist of two from the field. Positivity has had patches of form so far but has seemed to lose her way a little recently. Last time out she chased the overall leaders on the stands side. She was ridden along 2f from home and was driven out but could only respond at one pace in the final furlong. Ultimately she could get no closer than five lengths from the winner, but it was her first time on heavy ground. She should be up for one of the places today if she can maintain her form.
My tip goes to the frustrating Silent Wonder who has only been out of second place once in six starts. Last time out he was second again after attracting favouritism in the ring.
He was overall leader on the stands side, was ridden along 2f out and was then headed 1f from home. He was then driven out inside the final furlong and kept on to finish first of the group of two he was racing in. He was a little unlucky in the race as he had to race without cover for so long. He is well worth giving another chance to however as this looks to be a really good opportunity for the win.
1.50 – This looks to be a good chance for the John Gosden trained Hometown to pick up a win after a decent second last time out. She tracked the leaders that day and went second approaching the final two furlongs. She made her effort to get upsides the leader approaching the final furlong, but was soon niggled along and couldn’t quicken. This looks to be a far easier ask today, as she probably ran into a decent sort. Of the rest Marillos Protterras could be the biggest danger.
