Wednesday Racing

New tipster Stuart Eaton has a look at the card at Kempton for Wednesday 21 March 2007

Really good day for us at Kempton with several horses placing and three winners including Methaaly in the 4.40 at 8/1.

After a very tricky day’s racing on the all weather yesterday when not a single favourite won and double figure odds horses seemed to be in the frame at the end of each race, Kempton gives us a card with some very nice prospects on show in the first two races and then some fiendishly difficult races for the rest of the day.

2.00 – This race seems to have four against the field and it wouldn’t be surprising to see a combination of these horses making up the first three home. Troialini is a decent animal that won a good maiden at Wolverhampton. He may find a few too good today.

Zar Solitario is coming to this race off the back of a good win when he demonstrated his progression in beating a few well regarded sorts. He is also the brother to Solista a very smart Italian horse. Nassmaan won last time out in his Handicap debut after a third in his AW maiden and is to be respected. The pick for this race however is Silkwood who is a half sister to Cherry Hinton winner Silent Honor and showed bags of potential when winning her maiden over the extended mile.

2.30 – Ochre looks to have a fantastic chance to get off the mark here. This Martin Jarvis filly shaped very nicely in her racecourse debut when fifth in a very fast maiden race that has seen three further winners coming out of it. Expected to challenge are Baltic Belle, a consistent sort who is yet to break her maiden and Resplendent Ace who went very close last time out and is running right up to par for a race of this class.

3.05 – A race probably best left alone in truth as there are very few horses with any current form. For placepot backers it may pay to side with Savoy Chapel who is not the easiest sort to win with but does seem to be running into some kind of form.

3.35 – A tricky race with King of Charm and Cool Tiger looking set to go close. My preference goes just about to Black Oval. This mare was the subject of an investigation for being restrained in a previous race and the jockey that day was subsequently banned. She may just be on a mark to win a race of this class yet shouldn’t be relied upon too heavily as she can be a difficult ride.

4.10 – Not too many with much recent form in the book here so there may be a surprise winner. Christian Bendix and Firework look the ones to beat, with Firework just getting the nod due to his recent win over 7f when he posted a decent enough speed figure after a lay off. Not one to get too involved with.

4.40 – A very tight race with lots of animals running similar figures. Methaaly shaped like this return to 6f would suit when third last time out at a class above this race and is given a tentative nod.

5.10 – I like the look of Annemasse in this race due to a very promising debut win last time out when four lengths clear of a weak field. My big reservation is that the handicapper has really raised the weights after that win so it’s difficult to judge what effect that will have. Others for consideration are Go On Green, Vitznau and Jack Oliver.

5.40 – Speagle is an obvious choice in this race due to his recent wins and he is probably a justifiable favourite, however the handicapper could well have caught up with him and this is quite a competitive race. The nod goes to Awatuki who normally runs well at this track and was hampered last time out in a tough race. For something at double figure odds Economic may put up an improved performance.
