Wednesday racing

We are at Wolverhampton today for the best tips and runners from two afternoon races

Stuart Eaton’s tip to back Castaneous won us some tidy profits on Wednesday. The heavy favourite romped home in the 4.50 at Wolverhampton with no problems

Wolverhampton

3:20 – This has the looks of an interesting claimer over 1m4f and two horses stand out from the field. Bridgewater Boys has been in fantastic form of late with two wins and three places in his past five starts. Last time out he dwelt at the start and was held up, he could not get a clear run over 2f out but made some headway under pressure over 1f out. He then stayed on for 3rd, ultimately being beaten by 2 lengths. It was a decent enough performance at a grade above this and if he gets more luck in running today he should run a decent race.

My tip goes to Heathyards Pride who is another in sparkling form at the moment and was a recent course and distance winner. In his last start he was racing at a couple of levels above this and was held up in touch. He went 2nd and was slightly impeded 2f out; from there he was ridden approaching the 1f pole and had nothing extra to give inside the final furlong. The pace of the race probably did not suit and back at this level he should be very competitive.

4:50 – A really weak maiden stakes in prospect and one that should be dominated by Castaneous. In his last start over this course and distance he was held up and stayed on approaching the final furlong but could not get near the runaway leading two. He does not look an entirely straightforward ride but should have more than enough to see off this field. Of the rest Hurforharmony and General Tufto look the best of a bad bunch.
