Visage 300XT

Wow. If you've got cash to burn this is a seriously cool piece of poker kit

Last month we brought you the dealer button that doubles as a blinds timer. Yours for the price of a decent takeaway and one of the best inventions we’ve ever seen.

This month we’ve travelled to the other end of the financial rainbow and found the Visage.

It’s a self-contained unit that manages your poker games, displaying limits, blinds and antes for up to four different simultaneous games.

There’s a quickstart option for 1000 starting chips and four different preset tournament structures, or you can fully customise it to suit your own game, with up to 60-minute levels.

The display’s easy to read, even from a distance, and it stores up to four different game profiles with built-in reminders for breaks and colour-ups. It even displays messages up to 32 characters long so you can type amusing/adolescent messages such as ‘Tim is a fish’ to wind your mates up while they’re trying to keep a straight face.

Top notch, and solid and sturdy to boot, with a no-nonsense aluminium case to transport it round in. The catch? It’s bloody expensive and does nothing a cheap laptop and a copy of Tournament Director can’t do.

If you’re planning on setting up a series of multi-table tourneys it might be worth considering but if it’s just you and your mates in a home game you’d be better off with one of the aforementioned dealer buttons.
