A winning tip from Stuart Eaton from Tuesday’s racing at Great Leighs
Desert Strike ran home to victory in the 2:10 at Great Leighs to earn us some profits
Great Leighs
2:10 – This has the possibilities of an interesting handicap as a number of the entries have good recent form, having placed or won in their last three races. That said, I think that two stand out from the field.
Abu Derby has been in good heart of late, with three placed efforts in his last three starts on the AW. He is dropping in trip for this one and it will be interesting to see how the switch suits. He was well supported in the marketplace in his last start and was close up to the leading group on the outer in the early stages. He gave his effort to challenge 2f from home and had every chance when driven out approaching the final furlong. Unfortunately he was one-paced from there and ended up being beaten by 4 lengths.
My tip goes to Desert Strike who is dropping down in both class and trip for today’s encounter and is returning to the scene of his course and distance win last month. In his last start he led the race to over 1f out but then weakened inside the final furlong and could place no better than 4th. If he learns to conserve his energy a little better he should be hard to handle today.
4:40 – This looks like a good opportunity for the in form Joe Jo Star to make it two wins from two starts. In his last race he was held up in touch at the start, he led going into the final furlong and was pushed out to score by a length. He has been impressive over hurdles and still looks well handicapped now back on the flat. If running up to form today he will be hard to beat.
Of the rest Scutch Mill looks the biggest danger as his 2nd last time out looks like hint at a return to form.
