A winner in the 2.00 at Southwell gets our week off to a good start
Stuart Eaton was spot on with his tip for Came Back to win in the 2.00 at Southwell
Southwell
2.00 – This looks like a reasonable field with a number of the competitors having good recent form. That said, two seem to stand from the field. Another Genepi scored a good victory a couple of races ago and was not disgraced when 4th last time out. She tracked the leaders that day and raced a little keenly throughout. She was ridden over 1f out but soon weakened and was ultimately beaten by over 7l. She has little margin for error from her current handicap mark but is capable of pushing hard and can run into the places today.
My tip goes to Came Back who strung together an impressive run of wins early on this year and may now be ready to return to form. Last time out he led from the start, was ridden along 2f out and was then driven from the 1f pole. Unfortunately he was then headed inside the final furlong and weakened near the line to finish tamely. He can make amends here today and should run a decent race.
2.30 – This looks to be a slightly weaker affair than the previous race and only a few have good recent form, two of those stand out from the field.
Dart won over 2m a couple of races ago and then followed that up with a slightly disappointing 6th next time out. He was held up that day and was behind, he then made headway over 4f out and was ridden from the 2f pole. He weakened with 1f to go and finished fully 9l back. It was a disappointing effort given he was strong favourite on the day and he may be able to put up a better performance today.
I like the look of Pertemps Networks who is in good form at the moment but is yet to try this distance. Last time out he ran a decent 2nd after a long lay-off. He was close up from the start and led over 4f out. He was then ridden along in the final 2f and was driven from the 1f pole. Unfortunately he could only muster one pace from there and was headed inside the final furlong to be beaten into 2nd by just over 1l. He was entitled to need the run and you would expect him to be much improved today. He should therefore take all the beating.
