A pack of cards is the most important part of any poker game – make sure you never play with a duff deck again
LOOK
100% plastic with a vaguely psychedelic back design. They have the textured feel of a more expensive set but feel noticeably heavier and more rigid. Not bad at all. 4/5
SHUFFLEABILITY
Very satisfying, although slightly rigid and not as slippy, which means you have to use more effort to bring the pack together. More suited to the swirl shuffle. 3/5
MIDDLE BEND
(Cards bent in half, held for 10 seconds and left overnight to recover)
Folding in the middle left an almost imperceptible bend which disappeared completely in a couple of minutes. 5/5
CORNER BEND
(Corner of cards bent back, held for 10 seconds and left overnight to recover)
The card’s fairly rigid and almost feels like it’s going to fold over on itself, but like the KEM and Copag cards it returned to its original state leaving a small mark behind. 3/5
NINJA
(Cards thrown at a wall from two metres and dealt the length of a table)
Described as a beautiful flyer by our resident ninja card thrower, the Torcellos didn’t perform as well on the deal test. They’re slightly heavier and tend to grip the table taking much more effort to get them to the other end. 3/5
WASHABILITY
(Coke and coffee liberally sprinkled over and then left to dry before trying to clean)
The Torcellos spit in the face of coffee and coke. A quick wipe down and they were as clean as the inside of a bottle of Domestos. 5/5
VALUE FOR MONEY
An absolute bargain. Half the price of the KEMs and a good chunk cheaper than the Copags, without a massive drop in quality.5/5
OVERALL
A real surprise and despite the low price tag, they nearly ran away with the ultimate prize. Get a pack of KEMs or Copags for best and use these when your boozy mates come round.
