Thursday racing from Lingfield and Great Leighs

A winning tip in the 3.50 at Lingfield for some weekend spending money

Stuart Eaton made a good tip for the 3.50 at Lingfield as the 4/6-priced Pivka took it down

Lingfield

3.50 – This has the makings of an interesting encounter as a number of horses are very closely matched on form figures. That said I think that this will come down to a shortlist of two from the field. Hessian had been plugging along at 6 & 7f before being tried over 1m last time out. This really seemed to do the trick as it was a much improved performance. She was held up in the back rank and then made smooth progress 2f out. She led the main group inside the final furlong but had no chance with the winner who had already set sail at that time. If she can improve again from that performance she could well be a threat today.

My tip goes to the Sir Michael Stoute trained Pivka who looks the one from the field who is most likely to improve. Last time out she tracked the leaders and was ridden to go 2nd 2f from home. She closed on the leader 1f out and then led in the last 100yds. She was then soon clear of the rest and won the race by a decent two and a half length margin. She looked like she would be suited by a stiffer test and she gets that today so a big performance is expected.

Great Leighs

9.20 – With a small field and little strength in depth this looks to be a great opportunity for Luca Cumani’s Incarnation to get off the mark. Last time out she was held up at the rear of the field and made good headway over 2f out. She was then ridden and edged left over 1f from home and stayed on to finish just over four lengths back in fourth place. It was her first run for nearly 11 months so you would expect to see some improvement in this race. Of the rest, Time To Play makes most appeal.
