Stuart Eaton places his bets for Folkestone and Kempton on Thursday 10 April
Stuart can’t get it wrong this week as he comes through strong again with both Northern Tour and Riverscape romping home as predicted.
Folkestone
2.10 – As is always the case with races containing numerous un-raced horses we should make sure that we have a look at the market to ascertain any strength behind any particular runner.
That said, this looks to be a good opportunity for Northern Tour to chalk up an early win. He is from a yard who traditionally do well with 2 year olds and is quite nicely bred. He ran well on his debut in the Brocklesby when not looking like an obvious early season speed horse. There are a lot of positives to take from this run as he was slowly into his stride but made good headway from the 2f pole and was doing his best work late on. He is sure to come on from that race and looks the type to have a 5f maiden within his scope.
In addition this year’s Brocklesby has already thrown out a winner and three places so looks like a strong renewal. It should also be noted that Northern Tour ran the best of those from a single figure draw. Of the rest Richard Hannon’s newcomer Celtic Commitment looks the biggest danger.
3.50 – This looks like it will concern two horses from the field. Pharaohs Queen has had a reasonable start to racing so far with two places from her first two runs. Last time out she travelled strongly just in behind the leaders and stayed on nicely at the close. In addition it was an improvement on her debut which shows she is going in the right direction.
My tip goes to Riverscape who set a fair standard from her racing last year and is from a stable whose runners tend to come on from a winter break. The distance should suit and she is entitled to go close today.
Kempton
7.20 – This looks to be a good opportunity for Irish Mayhem who has improved gradually with racing. Last time out he put a good performance in from the front and was able to beat off a couple of challenges before just being caught near the line. If running to that level of form he should be hard to beat today. Of the rest Talayeb and Tharawaat look the likely dangers.
