A near-perfect weekend in the Six Nations as three of our four bets come in
If only Wales could have clung on to their 10 point lead we would have had that coveted perfect weekend. As it was, we still made some good money on the 2nd round of the Six Nations with our half-time/full-time bets on both Ireland and France coming in. The rugby is shaping up to be a nice little earner for us this year so bring on round three!
It’s week 2 of the 2009 Six Nations rugby and what do we reckon of the mismatches on offer this weekend?
Saturday, 2.30pm BBC 1, France vs Scotland
There’s still no Nathan Hines for Scotland and despite a late comeback against Wales last weekend they looked an outfit slightly underpowered. If France are as adventurous as they were against Ireland then this could be a joy as France run in some tries and make some line breaks.
The problem is we can only really back them on the handicaps and it is high at 15 points for 10/11. Are they 20 points better than Scotland? They could easily be but do we want to back it.
Instead I am looking at the half-time/ full-time market with CORALS offering 1/3 on France leading at the end of both. That is my pick.
Saturday 5.30pm, Wales vs England
To be honest, I don’t really care about this as I expect Wales to thump England. There is no fan in me anymore. Andy Powell, Ryan Jones and Martyn Williams could boss the battle of the back-rows. England lack strength, fitness, structure and flair.
I have two picks here;
Wales to win at 1/4
Wales to win handicap 10 points at 10/11
I am happy backing both and expect them both to come in.
Sunday, 2.30pm, Italy vs Ireland
There were glimpses of Ireland looking good last week. Now they have an easy movement to Italy where they should perform some slick training ground manouevres and rack up some points.
4/11 Half-time/Full-time on Ireland is my pick and I would be stunned to be turned over on this one.
