Six Nations Final Round

Ireland won the Grand Slam but how did our bets fare at the weekend?

It was one of the most exciting final rounds of the Six Nations in many years. Wales had one final kick at the death to win the game but Stephen Jones fell just short to hand the Grand Slam to the Irish.

We had backed the Welsh to win the game but our nifty strategy of trading against the team scoring first meant that we recouped some of our losses. In the other big game of the day, our back of England was made to look very simple as they defeated Scotland 26-12 in a lifeless game.

It’s back to basics for this final round of matches after a harrowing weekend last weekend.
England stunned all against France and I think Ireland and Wales were lacklustre to say the least.
So this week there will be no handicaps and only straight up win bets.

I am ignoring Italy vs France and just backing England to beat Scotland. What we have learned in the past few weeks is the lack of strength in depth the nations have. Wales learned that in Italy and I think the end of the championships is no place for Scotland.

They can be a handful for England but I reckon the surge of confidence from last week will power England home. However, we need some easy money so just back England to win @ 2/11.

Wales vs Ireland, 5:30pm Saturday

This is the main match of the weekend as the Championship winner depends on it and Ireland still have a chance of a historic Grand Slam.

Have they been good enough for that? Not at all. Wales could derail their chances at home and indeed should seeing as the Welsh should be the ones anticipating a Grand Slam!

Warren Gatland was quite sharp about some of his players after the debacle in Italy so I reckon this could be a fired up Welsh dragon. If not then a few players who thought they were shoe-ins for the Lions tour will have a shock now that England are starting to fizz.

I have two plays here so split your stakes;

1. Wales @ 4/5 win
2. Trade against the team scoring first. I hope to have both sides trading either side of evens for a couple of times and to leave my main Welsh bet running
