Praz Bansi tells PokerPlayer.co.uk what it was like to play on the WSOPE final table with fellow Hit Squad member James Akenhead
In October, Praz Bansi and James Akenhead both made the WSOPE final table. For two Brits to get through such a phenomenal field would have been impressive in itself but what made it amazing was that both men are great friends, lived with each other in Las Vegas for the World Series and are both sponsored by Full Tilt Poker.
In the third part of our exclusive video interview with Praz, he talks about what a dream getting to a major final table with good friend James Akenhead was.
The two players first met each other at the Gutshot poker club, playing £5 rebuys and £100 freezeouts. Akenhead said he approached Praz and Karl Mahrenholz, after noticing they were the best players in the club. ‘I approached them and said, ‘We want to form a group of us so we can meet up once every week or fortnight to talk about hands we’d played that week.’ That was how the Hitsquad was formed.’
Bansi admits the WSOPE final table was a particularly special moment because Akenhead had also just made the November Nine. ‘it was like a dream…He had already made the final table in Vegas so you wouldn’t think it would happen.’
The full interview with UK Player of the Year Praz Bansi is in the January issue of PokerPlayer, on sale December 31.
