Tasman rivals New Zealand and Australia met for the Tri-Nations decider at Eden Park on Saturday
We justed sneaked this one, as Australia lost to New Zealand by 14 points, 26-12 giving us the win on the handicap
New Zealand v Australia, Saturday 8.30am
A Tri-Nations decider, and fantastic last guide for these two before the World Cup. NZ are smarting over the loss to Aussie in Melbourne and field what Graham Henry has described as his number one side.
But still, there form has been sketchy – or as one friend who I chatted to this week described them as, ‘under rugbyed’.
He played in New Zealand and against England on a tour, so he is no bar room commentator and he felt that NZ were winning matches but not completing them – witness the amount of chances they have created in the last month and then blown.
The flip side was that he reckoned Australia’s scoring strike rate was massive, considering the paucity of chances they create.
All of which, he reckoned as a loyal Kiwi, makes Australia the real danger to All Black hopes in France.
Anyway, to Saturday’s match. I don’t think NZ will thump Aussie so I have two separate plans.
Fixed odds – Back Aussie with a 14 point start at 10/11 – widely available.
Exchange – Lay NZ in first 20 mins if they hit 1.15 or lower.
Also very small saver on draw at 50-1. This can also be traded.
