NFL weekend

Fletch can’t be stopped as he predicts another perfect NFL weekend

The Redskins upset the Eagles and the Bill and Cardinals indulge in a score-fest as rake in yet more NFL profits.

There are some interesting match-ups this weekend and a couple of good ones for our pleasure on SKY TV.

The season is starting to take shape now and I think the NFC EAST is clearly proving itself the toughest in the league.

However, there are two good matches on TV at 6pm SUNDAY.

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS @ NEW YORK GIANTS

Seahawks are 1-2 and as yet unsuccessful on the road. The Giants are unbeaten, however my caveat with them is in 3 matches they have only scored 40 points, 8 TD’s and they have been more workmanlike than statesmanlike as the Superbowl champs.

They are actually there as a team for the taking – is it Seahawks though to do it? Maybe – just maybe – although away from home it is some task.

Why? Both teams have enjoyed a bye week but whereas that has helped the Seahawks replenish their receiving corps with Deion Branch and Bobby Engram, Giants are without their main catcher Plexico Burress who is suspended.

Matt Hasselback will need to hit his Seahawk men though and do it quickly because the Giants pass rush is awesome, 4th in the league in sacks and every week they are on the highlights reel for getting into the opposing QB.

That could be countered though if Julius Jones enjoys another 100 + yard game on the ground.
If in contrast the Seahawks defense can counter Brandon Jacobs on the ground then this could be an away win.

However, I will want to trade this. Giants at 1/3 highest price are too short.

LAY BEFORE PLAY and hope for a much closer game than is expected. There easily could be a both sides above evens situation with this one.

WASHINGTON REDSKINS (3-1) @ PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (2-2)

NFC EAST rivalry but one that Redskins could win if they can maintain the intensity of last week’s fabulous victory in Dallas.

Great matchups here;

Eagles lead league in sacks with 17
Brian Westbrook is injured for Eagles and since then they have scored 1 TD in 6 Red zone visits
Eagles number one rated defense against the run – good luck Clinton Portis
Eagles have not conceded a TD in last 3 home games

The bookies go big home field win here – so big I have to trust Jason Campbell and co to at least challenge if not win.

EAGLES LAY @2/5

Like above this could and indeed should be an awful lot closer. Probably still home win but not at 2/5 from the start.

SUNDAY 9PM, BUFFALO BILLS (4-0) @ ARIZONA CARDINALS (2-2)

The Bills are 4-0. What? Joking surely? No. QB Trent Edwards has this offense going in his second year and they are scoring points, making plays and surprising everyone. They are also conceding as well so points happen but they are unbeaten and top of AFC EAST.

Cardinals are good at home and in Kurt Warner they have the third ranked passing QB this seaon and a plethora of offensive weapons ready to catch the ball. Boldin may not make it though which takes out their 5 TD man.

I like points for this game as both QB’s give the ball air and on the ground Marshawn Lynch of Bills has 4 TD’s and can hit a seam hard to make yards.

At +44.5 at 10/11 that is my money on there.
