InsidePoker gets granted exclusive video access to Phil Hellmuth as he makes his WSOPE entrance in style
On Saturday 26 September InsidePoker was given exclusive behind-the-scenes access to Phil Hellmuth’s preparations for his grand entrance to day 1A of the WSOPE main event. We took a cab with the Poker Brat from St Martin’s Lane Hotel and went to the start point at Waterloo Place. Along the way, Phil explained why London was even better for his ‘Emperor’ entrance than the Rio.
At Waterloo Place, Phil met his driver and stunt man Gerard, practised riding in the chariot and got acquainted with the horses, the stable girls and centurions. At 1.45pm, our unique entourage started makings its way towards the Empire Casino, forcing the busiest part of London to a standstill and provoking bystanders to ask: ‘Who is this man riding in a chariot through London? Is he an actor?’
On our arrival in Leicester Square, Hellmuth was mobbed by a substantial crowd and ducked into the Empire Casino to sit down for Day 1A of the main event.
At the end of the video, WSOP media director Nolan Dalla quizzes Hellmuth on what next year’s theme might be….
