Tom Allen takes a look Wednesday night’s Champions League action
As with Manchester United last night, one standout bet on Wednesday in the Champions League and again it involves a British side.
Celtic have a home record to rival any of the European elite in the Champions League and they host Shakhtar Donetsk tonight in what is a massive clash. Both sides have six points, courtesy of two wins and two defeats, and it looks a shootout between the two for the runners-up spot behind Milan.
A 3-0 defeat in the Ukraine, when the sides last met, tempers enthusiasm but only slightly as Celtic have such wretched away record in Europe. They are yet to win on their travels.
A general 1.80 shot, the 1.95 with Totesport simply has to be taken. The SPL Leaders have seen-off Milan and Benfica so far and a third successive win on home soil will pout them in a decent position to qualify for the last sixteen. Should they oblige, a last day point in the San Siro will be enough for Gordon Strachan’s side to advance.
