Champions League

Tom Allen ran his expert eye over Tuesday night’s Champions League action

Mixed bag here… Inter did the business for us in Moscow, winning 2-1, but Turkish Fenerbache scored a valuable point away in Eindhoven with a goalless draw.

The international break means we have been starved of European action for a few weeks now but there are some terrific matches upcoming and a couple of decent punts as well.

Manchester United will be hoping to cement their place at the head of Group B, but victory in Kiev can never be taken for granted, while Arsene Wenger will demand three points from his side when they host Slavia Prague. A win for either would all but seal a place in the knockout phase.

The best bet on Tuesday however involves another team who, like United and Arsenal, have aspirations of winning the trophy and I rate Inter solid 2.00 shots to win in Moscow.

The Italian giants travel to play CSKA and although victory is by no means a certainty they have enough class and experience to claim all three points. Inter have started the season well once again and I would have them at a touch of odds-on so take the even money.

PSV have a fine recent record in the Champions League, easily the best of any Dutch club, and although they perhaps do not boast the quality of past seasons I still think they will have enough to beat the travel sick Fenerbahce.

Teams from Greece and Turkey traditionally struggle away from home and Eindhoven is one of the hardest places in Europe to get a result. 1.83 about the hosts looks fair enough and that is the only other bet for me on Tuesday.
