Horse racing 13/09: Check out this each-way banker for the St Leger on Saturday

Windshear has never been out of the first two and will appreciate the fast early pace at Doncaster

The St Leger has drawn its biggest field since 2008, with Kingfisher being the only withdrawal at the final declaration stage, leaving 14 to take their chance at Doncaster.

What is also of interest is that there are a significant number of frontrunners, with Hartnell and Forever Now likely to be among the protagonists setting a true early pace.

Hartnell stays 2m and this could be significant if the early pace is strong, while Forever Now hails from the John Gosden yard that has taken the St Leger three times in the past seven years.

Furthermore, seven of the past ten St Leger winners had tasted victory on their final start before Doncaster. Forever Now is the only such candidate this year.

Both are solid each-way contenders at 12/1 and 14/1 respectively with BetVictor.

However, if there is one horse that is capable of mounting a late charge off of a fast pace, then Windshear looks a prime candidate.

Windshear has never been out of the first two and has regularly been seen staying on best of all late on, especially when almost collaring Snow Sky on the line in the Gordon Stakes last time out.

Being sired by former Arc winner Hurricane Run is no bad thing for his chances, while he is versatile in terms of ground.

Windshear looks banker each-way material for the St Leger at 8/1 with BetVictor.
