Premier League: Expect goals galore in the Manchester derby

The result might be tough to call but when Man Utd visit Man City you know there’s going to be goals

Goals-a-plenty have been registered in the Manchester derby over recent years, particularly at the Etihad, where in four of the last five clashes fans have witnessed at least four. Three of those games saw exactly five hit the scoresheet and BetVictor go 10/3 on as many or more again, which is not bad considering the leakiness of both Manchester City and Manchester United’s shaky backlines.

The same firm’s 8/5 on over 3.5 goals really looks the part though, as three of United’s last four away games have produced at least four, with eight featuring in the kamikaze loss at Leicester, while City have conceded exactly two strikes in each of their past three fixtures.

If that wasn’t enough, both sides have to contend with a bunch of forwards itching for goals. Robin van Persie is scoring again, with three in his last five games, while Radamel Falcao waits on the bench for a chance to add to his sole United strike. Wayne Rooney’s return couldn’t be timelier either.

In the blue corner, Sergio Aguero has a whopping 11 goals in 13 games this term.

With both sides in such variable form, this isn’t a match to go big on the win-draw-win markets, but it has got goals written all over it.
