Luke ‘FullFlush’ Schwartz gives his views on High Stakes Poker’s recent $676,900 pot between Tom Dwan and Phil Ivey
PokerPlayer.co.uk interviewed the one and only Luke ‘FullFlush’ Schwartz a few days ago and he was as insightful and controversial as ever. Luke was in town to promote the upcoming Scottish Poker Open, a £2,500 tournament taking place in August. You can find out all the details at www.scotlandspokeropen.com.
Schwartz revealed that Viktor Blom is definitely Isildur1, and also gave his thoughts on the recent hand between Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan and Phil Ivey from High Stakes Poker that has been the highlight of season six so far.

Here is what fellow high stakes pro Schwartz thought of the hand;
What were your thoughts on the recent High Stakes Poker hand between Ivey and durrrr?
Luke Schwartz: After Dwan makes the 3-bet preflop, Ivey just calls two streets on a Td-Qc-Kd-3s board and Dwan can easily rep a lot of monsters on the river. I’d have actually liked him to bet a little bit more as he can easily represent K-K, Q-Q or A-J. He’d also play A-K and A-A very aggressively and Ivey knows this. I guess on the river A-A and A-K were the two main hands he was trying to rep, making it look like he was trying to get a milking bet [out of Ivey]. I think it was a mistake by Dwan betting small on the river – Ivey could have clocked onto that. I would have preferred a bigger bluff but it worked out for him anyway.
What do you think to Ivey’s play in the hand?
They were nice and deep so I like Ivey play but he could have definitely raised on the flop. I feel that if he did raise on that flop he puts durrrr into a bad spot with A-A or A-K. durrrr would obviously push if he had a set. Ivey does have the odds to just flat and probably still just about has the odds to flat again on the turn although I dislike the turn call more than the flop. The odds of his hand have dropped off. Also, once he calls it will be difficult for Ivey to bluff at any stage if he misses. On the other hand, he would be more likely to get paid off by durrrr if a diamond came down as durrrr wouldn’t be putting him on a flush draw once he just flat calls. It’s a good hand.
When you watch hands like that does it make you sick that you aren’t playing?
Well, when I watch durrrr bluff [Peter] Eastgate off trip 2’s in the last series, that makes me sick. I have to watch durrrr win every pot on the table like that and I was just thinking that if I were there things would be completely different. durrrr knows that anyway. I’ve owned him plenty of times.
