Jeff Lisandro takes the lead in the Player of the Year race after 2nd bracelet
Australian pro Jeff Lisandro has joined Brock Parker and Phil Ivey on the enviable list of double bracelet winners at the 2009 WSOP.
After making the final table of the $ 10k Seven-card Stud World Championship and winning the $ 1,500 Stud event Lisandro confirmed his status as the world’s pre-eminent Stud tournament player by winning the $ 10,000 World Championship Seven-card Stud Hi-Low Split. It is the ‘Iceman’s third WSOP bracelet overall and the $ 431,656 prize money takes his career WSOP winnings to nearly $ 2.4m. The win also takes him joint top of the 2009 Player of the Year leaderboard, alongside Finn Ville Wahlbeck.
Also on the final table was the evergreen Doyle Brunson who was looking to create poker history by tying Phil Hellmuth’s record eleven WSOP bracelets. Unfortunately Doyle could only finish in seventh meaning he will have to wait a little longer for another chance at glory.
