It may be Christmas time but that doesn’t mean it’s too early to book your flights for Las Vegas in the summer of 2014 after the World Series of Poker announced the dates for next year’s poker extravaganza.
The 45th summer WSOP will run from May 27 – July 14, and will once again take place at the Rio hotel and casino. Over 60 bracelet events are confirmed and the prestigious $10,000 Main Event will start on July 5, running until July 14 when a new November Nine will be formed.
Full details of the schedule are expected to be released in January but what we do know is that the historic $1m Big One for One Drop tournament will make a welcome return. It starts on June 29 and, reportedly, an additional eight players will be allowed to enter, meaning that there will be a maximum of 56 runners to create a first prize in excess of $20m!
There are so many questions surrounding the Big One for One Drop; will Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan play in it after ending his sponsorship deal with Full Tilt? Can Antonio Esfandiari go back-to-back? Will somebody buy Jean-Robert Bellande in!? And have they lost their mind if they do!? Will famous names from Hollywood show up this year?
The Big One for One Drop is going to be the biggest story of the year (again) and we can’t wait until the cards are in the air on June 29.
Also announced by WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart was the return of the $1k Millionaire Maker – with a guaranteed $1m first prize – and the Little One for One Drop, a $1,111 tournament with much of the proceeds going to Guy Laliberte’s One Drop charity.
It’s all very exciting but there is some bad news….it’s over six months away! It’s not too early to start booking your flights though…
