The Battle of Malta has quickly transformed into the number one event for low to mid-stakes players. In 2012, 342 players turned up to play the inaugural event. Last year an incredible 1,804 runners made it one of the biggest live tournaments in Europe. It was also named best tournament in Europe under $2,000 buy-in at the European Poker Awards.
We were at the 2015 Battle of Malta and we can confirm that it was a blast – from the poker, to the VIP parties and a spontaneous karaoke-off between BOM host Maria Ho and American Idol star William Hung.
Every single player left with a smile on their face (and a top-up tan in time for Christmas) but Nicolas Proust was the happiest after winning the €550 Main Event and scooping an incredible €110,000. It was by far the biggest cash of his poker career. The second and third placed finishers also left with over €100k after a deal.

3. The Prizes
Finish in the top three in any of the tourneys to win your seat to the live final on October 8. The nine players will get €100 expenses, a VIP Tour of the Etihad and get to watch the England v Malta game from the VIP box.
You’ll also play a single-table tourney where the top two will win a €1,650 package to the Battle of Malta. The overall winner will also get an extra €200 in online tournament tickets.
