UKIPT Nottingham starts today at Nottingham’s Dusk Till Dawn poker club and, with a huge £1m guarantee on the main event, it will be one of the UK’s biggest poker festivals of the year. Dusk Till Dawn owner Rob Yong and the live events team at PokerStars have never shied away from trying out new and ambitious tournament ideas – with over 1000 players expected at DTD over the week, UKIPT Nottingham looks set to be another major success for the pairing.
Today’s major attraction is the £3,300 High Roller event, which has a £300k guarantee. It starts at 6pm and, whether you’re playing or just want to rail, the field at DTD is sure to be full with the biggest talents in the UK game such as Chris Brammer, Sam Grafton and recent EPT runner-up Jack Salter.
The £1,100 main event, with that sensational £1m guarantee, begins tomorrow at midday for the first of three Day Ones. In an unusual departure for the UKIPT, the main event is taking place under a re-entry format. However, to try and preserve the prestige of the event only re-entry into a following Day One is allowed. For example, if you bust from the tournament on Day 1A you cannot re-enter later that day but must instead wait for Day 1B. If you choose to play Day 1C then no re-entries will be allowed at all. With the bonus allowance of these re-entries DTD owner Rob Yong is hopeful of reaching the 1,000 buy-ins required to hit the £1m guarantee.
In fact, the event has had such tremendous interest that Rob Yong took to Twitter yesterday to state that only 50 seats now remain for players wanting to play Day 1C. If that includes you, then PokerPlayer.co.uk’s advice is to BUY-IN RIGHT NOW on either PokerStars or through the DTD online poker client. If Day 1C sells out and you show up you will be placed on an alternate list that could take many hours to clear.
It’s not just the High Roller and main event that is happening this week in Nottingham though – here is the full exciting schedule;
