Tony G already has many strings to his bow – accomplished poker pro, business impressario behind PokerNews, prospective member of European Parliament for Lithuania, bike salesman – but the loudmouth Aussie/Lithuanian is preparing to add yet another by launching his own poker site TonyBet Poker later this month.
Details are scarce at the moment but the G-man has dropped a few hints on his Facebook account, saying, ‘I have jaw-breaking news for all of you G fans out there! This time it’s all about poker – no business affairs, no nothin, just plain poker. Keep on following for more.’ Tony G followed that up by promising to deliver some festive goodies too, ‘This Xmas I’m putting my Santa’s beard on! I have a bag full of presents for all poker fans! This year the holidays start early!’
We can only speculate on what those Tony G Christmas presents might be….
Lessons in the Russian language?
A masterclass in playing it like a set?
A brand new bicycle?
Of course, as funny as Tony G can be at the tables it’s not a coincidence that all of these videos are dated from 2010 and earlier. Is the Lithuanian wrecking ball still relevant in 2013 and will people clamour to play on a poker site that bears his name? All of this remains to be seen but if any poker celebrity can make a success of it, it might just be Tony G. One thing’s for sure though – it’s great to see the poker world in rude health as we head into 2014, with new sites like TonyBet Poker starting up and the US online poker landscape finally making steps towards full legalisation.
