Since being announced as a PokerStars ambassador we haven’t exactly seen much of Rafael Nadal in action on the poker felt. But that’s because he’s been hard at work behind the scenes, improving his game in time for his first live tournament next month in Prague.
And while it might not be the main event, PokerStars claim Nadal will take part in a special charity tournament, which will include a mix of sporting legends and poker professionals.
“It’s no secret that I love the competition and that’s what I like about poker,” said Rafa Nadal. “It’s a game of skill that requires mental strength and the ability to out-think your opponents and in that way there are similarities to tennis. I have been playing poker online for almost 18 months and now I’m looking forward to the challenge of playing my first live tournament.”
Check out the short video below – released by PokerStars – which shows the beginning of Nadal’s poker journey and his work with poker coach Alfonso Cardalda.
