Dusk Till Dawn (DTD) owner Rob Yong today announced that he has signed Sam Trickett to be the official ambassador for February’s huge Sky Poker UK Poker Championships (UKPC) festival. The six-tournament event, presented by Sky Poker, has scored a real coup by getting Trickett onboard. Before hitting fame and fortune in some of the biggest tournaments and cash games in the world, Trickett started out his poker career playing small stakes at the Nottingham poker club and now, $19.9m in tournament winnings later, he will return for the UKPC.
The tournament schedule was released earlier this week and looks a good one. The action begins on Tuesday February 18 with the £3,000+£300 High Roller (with an ambitious £150k guarantee), before the much-anticipated £1000+£100 Main Event starts on Wednesday February 19. There’s a £500k guarantee on that one – and, despite the recent disappointing fields at the UKIPT, DTD and Sky Poker are confident they will smash that number. Around 80 players have already qualified via satellites on SkyPoker.com and DTD are running live satellites round the clock to drum up excitement too.
Another huge bonus for the Sky Poker UKPC Main Event is that the entire tournament will be filmed and shown on Sky Sports in the UK, giving poker some of its best exposure on these shores in years. Full details of the schedule can be found here: http://www.ukpokerchampionships.com/
If the Sky Poker UKPC is a success it could well become an annual fixture and highlight of the UK poker calendar. So far, both DTD and Sky Poker are doing everything right with a fun schedule of events, great TV backing and, now, one of the most respected names in world poker, Sam Trickett, as the face of the festival. Roll on February!
