Hi Simon, can you tell us a bit about your role at Dusk Till Dawn?
I am now Club Director responsible for organising all elements of poker from weekly to major festivals.
What’s the toughest part of your job?
Getting the balance right when creating a festival structure.
Dusk Till Dawn have been involved with some pretty groundbreaking tournaments – the ISPT and the two £1m guaranteed WPT events. What are you most proud of?
We have now guaranteed £1,000,000 six times, three UKIPTs, two WPTs and one Sky UKPC, hitting all of them, but the ISPT was unique. We took it over with nothing in place only 90 days before the start so to have it all ready was an operational and logistical success with all players that attended having an experience they will never repeat.
Your latest venture is pushing the envelope again! Tell us about the Grand Prix Million.
We wanted an event to formally launch our association with partypoker and as usual thought big. Our biggest Grand Prix previously was £50 entry and £250,000 guaranteed, this one is $100 and $1,000,000 requiring double the entries at 10,000. There are Day 1s both online and live and you can get the full schedule here.
Can players play a combination of Day 1s – live and online?
Yes, and can take their highest stack through to Day 2.
Can they play as many as they want?
Yes, and they can play both Day 2s if they wish with the chance to cash both days and take the highest stack through to the final day
You need to get 10,000 entries to hit the guarantee – do you think that’s possible given the previous best Grand Prix got 4,932?
Yes, we believe we have developed this Grand Prix to deliver these figures and players have been qualifying on partypoker for two months now.
If you got 10,000 entries, how many players do you expect to make it through to the live Day 2?
Between 1000 to 1200
What’s the next big thing DTD is aiming for?
The partypoker monthly Deepstack, will be a mini festival at DTD each month with big guarantees and seats into the WPT UK here in November.
