$10m guarantee means the 2014 PCA main event is set to make a big splash…
Now in its 11th season, the PokerStars’ Caribbean Adventure has grown to become one of the biggest and most popular events outside of the WSOP. And this year the party looks set to be the biggest one ever with Pokerstars declaring that the $10,300 main event will come with a guaranteed prize pool of $10 million for the first time ever. Last year 26-year-old Dimitar Danchev from Bulgaria scooped a cool $1,859,000 for winning the title. This year that figure is set to be even bigger!
Taking place again at the idyllic Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas, there will be a total of 39 events taking place throughout January. Along with the main event, the highlights include the $100,000 Super High Roller and the $25,500 High Roller.
David Carrion, Director of Live Operations for the PCA and Latin America, said: “This is the first time we’ve put a guarantee on the Main Event, and we’re hoping the $10 million purse will help smash last year’s field of 987 players. But it wasn’t just about the Main Event in 2013 – the festival generated more than 6,000 total entries and more than $28 million in prize pools across all events, with over 200 runners in the $25,000 High Roller. With even more ways to win a PCA package this year in online and live qualifiers, we’re predicting the 2014 PCA to be one of the biggest and most accessible ever.”
Satellites have already begun running on PokerStars and there are plenty of ways to claim your PCA package whether through Steps, Sit & Gos or the huge array of MTT satellites.
