Zandvliet’s double in Dublin

Dutchman bags second UKIPT title

Joeri Zandvliet cemented his place in UKIPT history this week, winning his second title in just six events to join Nick Abou Risk as the only multiple champs on the UK and Ireland circuit.

Zandvliet added €83,500 to his 2010 UKIPT Manchester success, seeing off a stiff final table in Dublin, which included fellow UKIPT hot shot Max Silver, himself chasing a second UKIPT title in as many years.

Entering the final day high in the chip counts, Zandvliet blasted through the final table, eliminating David Doherty in eighth place, before three-betting Silver relentlessly – the later exiting in a disappointing fourth.

And after a gruelling three-handed battle with Robert Csire and Chuck Fabian ended with the Dutchman rivering Csire, Zandvliet cruised into heads-up with a commanding 4-1 chip stack. An hour later and Fabian followed Csire onto the rail when his As-9c was outdrawn by Zandvliet’s As-5c

‘It’s ridiculous to win a second time,’ said  Zabdvliet. ‘It’s like a four day marathon…and then you win at some point.’

Here’s how the final table finished up:
