Officials gear up for 2012
World Series of Poker fever has hit, and hit hard this week. But while sites roll out their qualifying schedules for the summer series, some are already looking ahead to September when the WSOPE kicks off once again in the French Riviera.
Poker’s best and brightest will arrive at the Hôtel Majestic Barrière in Cannes from September 21 to battle in seven gold bracelet events, starting with the €2,500 Six-Max event and ending with the €10,000 Main.
Like in 2011, the €10k Mixed-Max event will also make an appearance, which starts with nine-handed play, dropping to six-max then heads-up day by day. And all bases are covered with the usual Shootout, full-ring and six-max PLO affairs.
‘We can’t wait to return to the Cote D’Azur in 2012,’ said WSOP vice president Ty Stewart. ‘We have moved up the schedule a couple of weeks to take better advantage of the great weather and all Cannes has to offer.
‘Ask anyone who attended last year. This tournament is now a certified major championship and the experience is second to none.’
The full WSOPE schedule is as follows:
September 21: €2,500 + €200 Six-Handed No-Limit Hold’em (3 Day Event)
September 22: €1,000 + €100 No-Limit Hold’em (5 Day Event)
September 24: €5,000 + €300 Pot-Limit Omaha (3 Day Event)
September 25: €3,000 + €250 No-Limit Hold’em Shootout (3 Day Event)
September 26: €10,000 + €450 Mixed-Max (4 Day Event)
September 27: €1,500 + €150 Six-Handed Pot-Limit Omaha (3 Day Event)
September 29: €10,000 + €450 Main Event (5 Day Event)
As always, PokerPlayer will bring you the big WSOPE news when it returns later this year.
