Sponsors to hold freeroll STT for 2007 final nine players to miss the money for 2008 Main Event seat

Organisers have announced the World Series of Poker Main Event’s second annual Bubble Playoff, a free-roll poker event for the final nine players eliminated “out of the money” in this year’s Main Event.

These nine players will be given a second chance at a payday, this time in the form of a seat at the 2008 WSOP Main Event, valued at $10,000, and a year’s supply of the sponsor’s Milwaukee’s Best Light beer.

“Last year, the Bubble players really appreciated that Milwaukee’s Best Light gave them a second chance, since they had played for such a long time in the Main Event and came away with nothing,” said Kevin Rutherford, senior brand manager, Milwaukee’s Best Light. “We were pleased that we helped one of them leave Vegas with a seat to the 2007 Main Event.”

Last year’s winner, Hoa Nguyen from California’s San Jose area, had finished near the bubble in both the 2005 and 2006 Main Events, and made it to Day 2 in this year’s event.

“I was so disappointed to miss out on the money last year, after having played for four long days,” Nguyen said. “Then Milwaukee’s Best Light invited me to the free-roll tournament for the chance to win a seat to the 2007 Main Event. I’m very grateful to have won the seat, particularly if I go deep this year.”
