Warne heads to Vegas

Aussie cricketer Shane Warne will skipper the 888.com poker team at the WSOP

Cricketing legend Shane Warne will captain the ‘888.com Poker Team’ at the forthcoming World Series of Poker Championships in Las Vegas, the world’s leading poker tournament.

Fresh from inspiring The Rajasthan Royals to their amazing victory at last month’s inaugural Indian Premier League (IPL), Warne will be in Vegas from 28th June to 12th July, and will be hoping to inspire the 888.com team to similar success as he and his fellow team mates take on the best poker players in the world.

Commenting from a well deserved break back in his native Australia he said, “I’m really looking forward to joining the guys in Vegas and am hoping we can cause a few upsets, just as we did in the IPL last month. I’ve always loved the intensity and tactics of poker and the guys I play with know how seriously I take my cards so I’m really looking forward to playing against the best players in the world. I’ve obviously got a lot to learn but it’s going to be a fantastic challenge.”

As well as his commitments on the tables, Shane will also be on more familiar territory when he Captain’s one of the teams at the 888.com cricket match at the Las Vegas Cricket Club on 2nd July.
