Plumber Andrew Couldridge wins PokerStars UKIPT Nottingham, beating 649 other players
Andrew Couldridge has won the Nottingham leg of the PokerStars UK & Ireland Poker Tour for a huge £80,000 plus a seat in the EPT London worth £5,250. Held at the Dusk Till Dawn card room, the Nottingham leg of the tour was one of the largest poker tournaments ever held in the UK, drawing 650 runners for the £500 main event.
After a long three days of play Couldridge – who owns a plumbing firm in London – defeated Oliver Schaffman heads-up and was declared the champion. Couldridge said shortly after the win, ‘It’s been a very tiring three days of ups and downs. This was my first UKIPT event; it’s a very good tour with lots of play and [it] was a very enjoyable tournament.’ When asked how he was going to spend the money Couldridge declared he would use a chunk of it to follow his football team – Spurs – in the Premiership and Champions League next season.
The UKIPT Nottingham also featured a number of side events including a £100 Ladies event and a £200 six-max event ideally suited for the online generation. Team PokerStars Pro JP Kelly took that one down for a little over £11,000.
The UKIPT now moves on to Killarney, Ireland with the €1000+€100 main event starting on June 24th.
