UB’s Online Championship Series culminates with a mammoth $1.3m main event
Online poker site Ub.com concluded its 12 day UBOC series in some style yesterday, attracting 1,307 players to its $1,050 Championship event hosted by the legendary Phil Hellmuth.
Hellmuth was knocked out in 314th, relinquishing his $500 bounty to JEFFBEESDAT but was happy with his performances across the whole Series. ‘This year’s UBOC Championship brought me out in full force,’ said Hellmuth. ‘I played in almost every event, cashed four times and had two top nine finishes. What a way to end the best online championship poker series ever.’
It took 12 hours for the main event to whittle down from thousands to just two players, DOUBLEDAVE22 and SUPERMODL. Heads-up lasted just 30 hands and the final hand was as dramatic as they come. DOUBLEDAVE22 moved all-in over the top of SUPERMODL‘s 500k raise with pocket fives and was instantly called by the initial raiser who held pocket nines.
Amazingly the flop of 5h-6h-Ks gave DOUBLEDAVE22 an unlikely set and the board ran out Kd-Ad to give DOUBLEDAVE22 the impressive $280k first prize.
Since UBOC kicked off on January 20th, 10,041 players have competed in 18 events with a massive overall prizepool of $5,327,309.
