James “POKERPRO33” Campbell will join UltimateBet’s growing stable of online pros
UltimateBet has scooped up another one of Texas Hold’em’s best. The online poker site today announced that James “POKERPRO33” Campbell will join Cliff “JohnnyBax” Josephy on its month-old Star Players team.
“UltimateBet is now home to a couple of online poker’s most talented and most respected players,” stated Annie Duke, UltimateBet’s Cardroom Consultant. “Our growing Star Players team is proof that UltimateBet is in a class of its own.”
The married 25-year-old poker player from Worcester, Massachusetts wasn’t always one of the biggest forces in online poker. Armed with a degree in finance, Campbell’s business card read “financial planner” for six months prior to discovering a better way to make money with numbers.
After finishing first and third in two tournaments one random Sunday for a combined win of $50,000—a figure greater than his yearly salary at work—Campbell made the decision to switch careers.
Campbell cites leaving his career in financial planning to pursue a fulltime poker career as one of the biggest risks he’s ever taken. A review of his accomplishments reveals that this particular risk has paid off.
In 2007, Campbell earned approximately $500,000 playing professional poker, including $200,000 in an online tournament that featured over 7000 players. Since starting his career in poker, POKERPRO33 has won over $200,000 in live tournaments and millions of dollars in online tournaments.
