This year’s Boylepoker.com International Poker Open has reached its climax and Tom Brady from Northern Ireland has been crowned champion, earning himself a cool €42,530 payday. The tournament which began last month, saw 1,148 players register for the €230 buy-in Main Event with the prize pool reaching an impressive €229,600. During October 19-20 the large field was whittled down to eight players who returned to the Regency Hotel in the Irish capital of Dublin this weekend to decide who would be going home with the trophy.
Heading into the final day the chip counts were as follows:
1: Tom Brady – 3,210,000
2: Thomas Nathan – 2,930,000
3: Emmett Davis – 2,512,000
4: Colum Horan – 2,330,000
5: Henry Port – 2,000,000
6: Lori Lazzaro – 1,441,000
7: Thomas Dupuy – 1,020,000
8: Darren Millar – 830,000
The final table was streamed over the Internet live at the Boylepoker blog. With play down to two, Darren Millar was all that stood in Brady’s way and after a heads-up battle which lasted only 30-minutes. The final hand came when all the chips went into the middle with Darren Millar showing A-6 only to see Brady turn over A-9 and have him completely dominated. The flop helped neither player and when the turn and river failed to improve either hand Brady was declared the winner.
Here is how the final table finished:
