Europe’s biggest poker tournament is back!
The GUKPT Goliath, the ultimate amateur deepstack poker championship, is back! After the £100 + £20 event smashed the European land-based entry record in 2011, organisers Grosvenor Casinos are proud to announce that the madness will be happening all over again on August 22-27.
GUKPT Goliath offers its entrants a prizepool usually associated with only the highest stakes tournaments, and if you’re interested in playing, here’s a taste of what’s to come at Coventry’s Ricoh Arena this summer:
- Three start days featuring late and re-entry
- A guaranteed prize pool of £100,000 with a minimum top prize of £25,000
- A 25,000 starting stack and 40 minute clock
- 25% of the entrance fee donated to Marie Curie Cancer Care
- Extra prizes on offer for the 2012 Goliath Team Challenge
- Live streaming from the feature table and live blogs
In 2011, Lee Rawson took down Goliath ahead of 1,765 entrants for a cool £32,705 and organisers expect this year’s event to be even bigger, with up to 2,500 runners gearing up for a shot at the title, cementing Goliath’s place in the record books.
But that’s not all. GUKPT Coventry’s £1,000 + £70 Main Event will be taking place alongside the latter stages of Goliath from the 25th-27th August, along with a full schedule of side events and satellites. For full details, including structures, visit www.gukpt.com/goliath.
The Goliath Team Challenge is already accepting entrants, through which up to six players may compete in a team, their in-the-money finishers contributing points to their total score. The highest scoring team can win a bunch of prizes including, entry into next year’s event and a $1,000 private online tournament, while their top two finishers earn £1,000 GUKPT Main Event seats. Qualification for Goliath will start at as little as £1, with satellites hosted on grosvenorpoker.com. Direct entry is also available at all G Casinos with a Poker Room. Good luck!
