Main Event runner up signs for PokerStars
PokerStars made it a Main Event one-two this week after signing Martin Staszko to it’s ever-growing list of big name Team Pros.
Staszko joins his 2011 Main Event opponent Pius Heinz at the site, less than a month after losing heads-up to the young German in Vegas.
The stoic former chess whiz and auto plant worker is the second Czech player to join Team Pro alongside Martin Hruby, and although he’s largely known as a live player, Staszko has over $200,000 in online winnings under the alias ‘filfedra’.
‘I enjoy a live game,’ Staszko said. ‘But for practical reasons it is better online. I can play every day without ancillary costs.’
Staszko’s first outing in Team Pro colours will be next month at EPT Prague. Check back with PokerPlayer to see how he gets on.
