Sky Poker leaves the studio for its first live tour including a £25,000 guaranteed final
Sky Poker has unveiled plans for its first live poker tour. The Sky Poker Tour will be held at six venues across the UK and will culminate in a televised grand finale with a £25,000 guaranteed prize pool tournament at the Dusk Till Dawn card room.
In addition to hosting the final of the Sky Poker UK Tour, the Dusk Till Dawn card room will also hold the first of the six legs of the tour with a £5,000 GTD tournament on Saturday 13th September 2008. Located in Nottingham, the Dusk Till Dawn Card Room is the only venue in the UK devoted to poker and is the UK’s largest card room with 45 tables.
“There is an incredible demand from our community of players for more live events and so we are delighted to announce the launch of this six-leg Sky Poker Tour,” said Emma Crowe, Head of Marketing at Sky Poker.
“We have hosted a series of one off live events in the past 12 months last year, all of which were very popular. Now with this tour there will be a huge sense of excitement and anticipation as our players move from playing against each other live on Sky Channel 865 to meeting in person and competing across the felt with £25,000 at stake.”
Over the course of the next year Sky will bring its community of players together at each of the six legs. The top ten finishers in each leg will qualify for the grand finale and its £25,000 GTD prize pool, back at Dusk till Dawn, in June 2009. The only way to qualify for the Sky Poker Tour is through online satellites, which start at only £2.65.
Players who qualify through the satellites to one of the legs of the Sky Poker Tour will be able to meet many of Sky Poker’s favourite on screen personalities, including Norman Pace, Michelle Orpe, Richard Orford and Tony “Tikay” Kendall. Players will also be able to meet in person other members of the Sky Poker community, who are often so familiar with each other’s on-screen aliases.
