Although launched recently without a fanfare, Sky Poker channel 846 is going from strength to strength
There’s a new poker experience on TV in the UK and it’s called Sky Poker.
For those that haven’t already noticed, while surfing Sky channels up in the 800s, it can be found channel 846 and it’s flagship tournament The Open is on from 9pm nightly.
It’s ambitious in it’s scope and presents online and TV poker in a completely new and innovative way.
The action is helmed from a ‘green screen’ studio by a present and expert analyst, who oversee the action with up to 1,000 punters playing online. In addition there are celebrity studio guests, including PokerPlayer’s very own Rick Dacey, and some pretty ambitious computer graphics.
The channel was soft launched about a month ago and appears to be going from strength to strength.
On offer is the chance to win over £5,000 every day and for the first time you can play online or via your remote control.
The channel aims to be a brand new home for the growing number of British poker converts and features an unlimited number of tables to join.
Your table could be featured on TV, or you could be lucky enough to find yourself playing at the same table as one of the studio guests.
Richard Flint, Managing Director Sky Bet says: “Sky Poker is pure entertainment poker. It will stand out from the familiar poker marketplace. It’s the first channel of its kind and creates a new kind of poker experience giving people the chance to compete against celebrity studio guests from the comfort of their living room.”
“Sky Poker is multi-platform, interactive entertainment – online and on-air – and all the traditional poker values like bluffing, developing strategies and exercising restraint will be there. You will also be able to brush up on your strategy with our poker tutorials. We’re confident that this innovative new channel will be a hit with poker fans no matter what level of experience they have.”
