Showdown Poker Tour

New player-friendly European Tour ready for May kick-off at The Gutshot

The name of the game is to create a poker tour for the players and there is a nice degree of anticipation building around The Showdown Poker Tour.

The first event is now only a few weeks away, due to be staged at that hub of London poker, The Gutshot Club in Clerkenwell, and registrations are coming in thick and fast.

The Tour has some high profile backers, with none other that The Hendon Mob being involved from the outset. They are behind the project because it is truly independent, more ‘down to earth’, and boasts better venues and bigger prizes.

The Tour will consist of eight tournaments played in both well established and brand new poker venues across Europe, marshalled by a well known tournament director.

– The Gutshot Club, London, England (3rd – 7th May 2006)
– Fitzwilliam Card Club, Dublin, Ireland (24th – 28th May 2006)
– Reval Hotel Lietuva, Vilnius, Lithuania (date pending)
– Casino Barriere de Trouville, Trouville, France (6th – 10th August 2006)
– Reval Park Hotel & Casino, Tallinn, Estonia (31st August – 3rd September 2006)
– Casino Marienlyst, Elsinore, Denmark (19th – 22nd October 2006)
– Casino Esplanade, Hamburg, Germany (27th – 30th November 2006)

The final tables of all the tournaments will be televised and broadcast on TV across Europe.

The brains behind the Tour are two Danish guys Soren Hansen and Teddy Vendersbo, both media gurus who have been involved in gaming and TV for many years.

If you fancy your chances there are online satellites at Betfair Poker, Poker.com, Gutshot.com, Potraiser.com, Bestpoker.com and Martinspoker.com.

It all adds up to a great prospect and if you’re in any doubt check out this ringing endorsement from the world famous Hendon Mob.

"The Hendon Mob are delighted to announce our support for and participation in the ShowDown Poker Tour. We believe that the advent of the new Showdown Poker Tour is the best news in European poker for some time. This is a tour designed by people who understand the game and with the interests of players very much in mind.”

“There are some great venues lined up and, perhaps most importantly, the tournament structures will ensure that good play is rewarded. The opportunity to qualify on-line means everyone has a chance to participate and the size of the buy-ins will ensure big prize pools. We believe that all these things, as well as TV coverage and the encouragement of commercial sponsorship, will attract players from around the world and make the Showdown tour a worthy competitor to existing televised tours."
