Shaun Deeb nets fifth career SCOOP

A few weeks back, PokerPlayer reported on how Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom did the unthinkable and netted two SCOOP titles in two days. Well, Shaun Deeb stole Blom’s thunder this week, winning his fourth SCOOP in 10 days series and his fifth in an already glittering career.

The American has dominated this year’s Spring Championships, and his $46,325 win in event #38 – the $2,100 H.O.R.S.E. – his fourth in less than two weeks, saw his career wins pass the 30 tournament in less than six years as a pro.

Yet despite winning three of his 2012 SCOOP titles in stud events in 2012, Deeb still claims he’s not the format’s strongest player. But even his heads-up opponent in event #38, much-loved Brit Jon “LUFCBas” Spinks, didn’t think he stood a chance against the force that is Deeb, posting on Twitter:

“@JonSpinks: obv got HU with @shaundeeb and we all know what happens from there… #bendoverandacceptit.”

‘It’s not as sick as everyone is making it out to be,’ Deeb told CardPlayer. ‘All fields were under 100 people, and the events had amazing structures. A lot of [my opponents] aren’t full-time mixed-game players.’

‘Running hot makes you think clearer (sic), and people are less likely to be tricky versus you because they’re afraid you’ll read their soul.’

But Deeb wasn’t the only big name showing his talents in this year’s SCOOP. Outspoken Brit Luke Schwartz collected his first SCOOP victory on Saturday when he beat all comers in event #36 – the $5,200 buy-in (high) PLO Six-Max – for $174,200.

With just a few events to go before this series closes out, will anyone catch Shaun Deeb atop the SCOOP leaderboard? Will his record of four on the spin ever be beaten?
