Second crackdown on US poker sites

Doylesroom.com and Truepoker.com shutdown by DoJ

A month after the events of Black Friday shook the poker world to its core, the American Department of Justice has shut down a further 10 online gambling domains, ranging from poker sites to bookmakers.

Following an undercover operating into the dealings of payment processors in the US, Doylesroom.com and Truepoker.com have now followed Full Tilt, PokerStars and Absolute Poker into the DoJ’s bad books. Their owners have been charged with similar offences to those seen on Black Friday, namely money laundering and operating an illegal gambling business.

It is currently unclear whether or not the indicted sites have suspended play to US players.

Since Black Friday, some poker sites in the US have been desperately trying to distance themselves from the American market. Victory Poker, which operates on the as of yet untouched Cake Poker Network, voluntarily banned US players for fear of DoJ action, and after the further crackdown this week, many more sites still allowing US players could follow suit.

This week Bogod Poker, one of those sites still operating in the US, announced that visitors to BodogBrand.com would now be redirected to Bodog.eu under the terms of a new licensing agreement with the Kahnawake-licensed Morris Mohawk Gaming Group.
