PokerStars online championship biggest of all-time
After two weeks, 120 events and a ridonkulous $65,332,179 in prize money, the 2012 SCOOP will go down in history as the biggest online tournament series of all time! And as players count their winnings or, in many cases, loses, one will be a little happier than most. Shaun Deeb’s unprecedented four SCOOP wins set the bar for online poker heroics, but he wasn’t the only big name shinning this month.
As well as two-time winner Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom, online pro GripDsNutz made the headlines for his stunning victory in the $10,300 buy-in 2012 SCOOP main event, pocketing a cool $798,675 – the biggest prize of the series – and a staggering $814,079 overall.
But Deeb, who played 115 of the 120 tournaments, cashing 27 times, including no less than eight final tables, won the extra spoils. Thanks to shipping the overall Player of the Series title and the high buy-in Player of the Series championship, Deeb walked off win 2013 EPT Grand Final and 2013 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure packages free of charge.
On the British front, Team UK also put in a strong showing, banking 16 titles and a little over $7m, thanks to victories from the likes of Luke Schwartz and Sam “SamSquid” Grafton, to name a few.
