Wembley event takes shape as top pair strengthen ISPT line-up
The International Stadiums Poker Tour aims to smash all records when it takes over Wembley stadium next year.
Due to kick-off on 31st May 2013, the tournament will cater for the enormous volume of expected entrants by staging the first few days on players’ own laptops, but sitting around real tables. The ISPT hopes to attract 30,000 poker hopefuls from across the poker-playing globe in what would be the worlds largest ever grind-a-thon.
Once play is down to the final 3,000, the idea is that competitors would then lose the laptops and start playing for real.
It’s a bold move to mix live and online play, but the recent addition of UK ace Sam Trickett and top female pro Liz Lieu to it’s list of official ambassadors looks like a solid move and proves that the ISPT means business.
Speaking about joining the team, Trickett said, “as a poker player, I have to be associated with such an enormous event. Being part of this tournament means being part of the history of poker.”
In preparation to the big one at Wembley next spring, the ISPT will also be sponsoring three other events:
October 13 – 14 – Scottish Amateur Poker Championship – Alea, Glasgow
January 26 – 27 – United Kingdom Team Championship – G Casino, Luton
March 28 – April 1 – World Championship of Amateur Poker – Dusk Till Dawn, Nottingham
